The Benjamin enjoyed a lovely Thanksgiving feast prepared by our wonderful chefs. They were sure to include all of the traditional items such as stuffing, mashed potatoes, and of course Turkey.
The Benjamin enjoyed a great spread of Italian favorites during our 3rd Quarter Values Champion celebration. The winner for this quarter was Jennifer Moreno! Jennifer has been a true asset to our team, we are thankful she has assisted when we have been short at the front desk and is always happy to help her fellow peers. Jennifer has proven to be flexible and able to take on any and all tasks given to her. Congratulations again Jennifer!
There was exciting pumpkin carving contest this Halloween at the Benjamin. They celebrated October Birthdays and had sweet treats. Ali Rivera won the winning prize with his pumpkin. They all did such an amazing job. We love Halloween at the Benjamin!
The Benjamin hotel enjoyed a fantastic Housekeeping Week! We started the week with a delicious Breakfast followed by a relaxing Tuesday full of treats and massages for our Kings and Queens. Wednesday they received a precious succulent and got tons and tons of gift cards for a lot of yummy places to eat. We continued the week with and amazing lunch from our very own Chef Rezart who created a spectacular meal for them to enjoy. We ended the week with a sundae bar and a fun game of Bingo with lots and lots of raffle prizes such as a Gift cards, TV, Nespresso machine, and $100.00 gift card. They all received a handy Thank you bag, a water bottle, and a housekeeping survival kit. What a week!!
The Benjamin enjoyed their summer outing at 48Lounge where savory food was served and delicious drinks as well! Everyone had an amazing time thanks to the lively DJ that assisted us with saying farewell to a great summer!
We celebrated the 2nd Quarter Values Champion as well as July Birthdays yesterday at The Benjamin with coconut cake and pizza! Fidel Blanco won the honor of Values Champion for his dedication and personalization to customer service. Congratulations Fidel and a Happy Birthday to all July babies!
The National Bar and Dining Rooms received another “A” yesterday during the Department of Health Inspection. “A” special thanks to Executive Chef Rezart, Director of Food and Beverage Marta and the entire restaurant and culinary team for their commitment to keeping The National up to a consistently high standard!

The National Bar and Dining Rooms received an “A” today during the Department of Health Inspection. A special thanks to Executive Chef Rezart and the entire restaurant and culinary team for taking pride in their working environment and achieving success! It takes a group effort to succeed and we are lucky to have a great team!
Kitchen throw-down at the Benjamin/NTL restaurant was a huge success! Congratulations Tournant- Luis Monje for winning 1st place in this super competitive contest. Thank you Chef Rezart and HRD Suzan Toprak for this wonderful team-building event. It was very difficult for our lovely panel of judges to select a #1 winner. Kudos to all participants for their delicious creative dishes: Sergio Tenesaca, Winston Batista, Israel Castaneda, Edwin Roldan, Francisco Ceballos, Azaael Vaquero, and Lobsang Choejor.
Team Benjamin hosted their annual employee holiday party at the Angus Club Steakhouse. There was great food and awesome prizes won by the employees. Many thanks to our General Manager Gul Turkmenoglu, Anya Orlanska and HR team. A special thank you to all the employees who came to celebrate and make it a success!

Sunday October 1, teams from The Benjamin and The Surrey gathered at The Roosevelt Hotel before heading to the Street of Manhattan. It took the team a little bit over two hours (And about 7 miles walk) to gather all the participating hotel stamps. Each stamp counts for $1 that will be donated to City Harvest, which assists New Yorkers in need. Thank you to the Benjamin hotel and its staff for setting up the stamp station on Sunday morning.
Housekeeping week was kicked off with a hearty breakfast prepared by The National. Also, the team rested and rejuvenated with chair and hand massage treatments throughout the week. Make your own sundae day was a big hit – lots of smiling faces. In addition, the team was treated to full serviced lunch with some delights specially created by Chef Rezart, the finale was a gift bag with treats and other fun things!
Dorothy Parker Gin hosted the June 7th edition of Social Hour and featured Tasting and Summer cocktails! These curated Tastings held in the lobby continue to impress our guests and a chance for them to interact with other travelers as well as with The Benjamin staff.
With as much success as the previous Tastings the last couple of months, our guests continue to enjoy Social Hour every other Wednesday with our curated tastings in the hotel lobby. The May 24th edition was hosted by Facundo Rum and featured Aged Rum Tastings & Signature cocktails – all were a huge hit!
To honor and celebrate our wonderful Benjamin Moms, Director of Human Resources, Shari A. Rhein hosted a Mother’s Day Breakfast in the employee cafeteria on Mother’s day, Sunday, May 14th. And, as a Benjamin tradition, each mom received a red rose that brought smiles just as it has in the years passed. Thank you to the Kitchen staff for a great continental breakfast that was enjoyed by everyone.
Dr. Rebecca Robbins, creator of The Benjamin’s Sleep Program, stopped by during Sleep Week to give a refresher class to the team about our Sleep Menu. She also shared some important sleeping tips which the team found interesting and relatable and helpful in both their professional and personal lives.
We are proud to announce that The National restaurant receives yet another perfect score from the Department of Health inspection. On behalf of General Manager, Gul Turkmenoglu, Corporate Director of F&B, Danny Martinez and Executive Chef, Rezart Gorencavic, we would like to extend a big THANK YOU to The National team for all their hard work and dedication on a daily basis to help make The National the success that it is! Excellent Job!
Over the next few months, The Benjamin will be hosting curated tastings in the hotel lobby for guests to come down, interact with staff and other travelers, and sip on libations courtesy of our generous vendors. We kicked off this week with Roca Patron and signature tequila cocktails which was enjoyed by all! We hope to continue each Social Hour with as much success as our first and use this activation as an opportunity to get to know our guests as well as enhance their stay at The Benjamin.

After over twenty years with Denihan Hospitality Group and The Benjamin we bid farewell to one of our most hard working room attendants, Elzbieta Korzyk. Ela’s Benjamin family got together to honor and thank her for her years of service and dedication. It was an afternoon of fun reminiscing and a heartfelt speech by Ela who will certainly be missed!
The Benjamin management team showed appreciation to the staff for their hard work and dedication during the first quarter especially during DCAT week and a successful month of March. Managers served employees a delicious hot breakfast for the AM staff and afternoon tea for the PM staff (both catered by Chef Rezart and his Culinary team). It was well perceived by the team members.
FIFTY NYC and The Benjamin had their annual holiday party yesterday, December 21st. The party was held on the entire second floor of The Benjamin which was decorated to reflect a Winter Wonderland ambience. Staff from both properties enjoyed a delicious dinner catered by our own Executive Chef Rezart and his Culinary team. There were a lot of prizes won by staff from each hotel including two 40” Smart TVs and the grand prize, a two-night stay (to include a sumptuous brunch!) at Saybrook Point Inn & Spa, a luxury property in Connecticut. To top it all off, our DJ for the night played great music and there was dancing…and lots of it!

The Benjamin and The National participated in the Second Annual Trick-or-Treat with East Midtown Partnership who worked with a number of community groups and schools to bring children and their parents to East Midtown Area from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Monday, October 31st. Our team distributed some treats, set up a table with pumpkins (carved out by Chef Rezart and our Culinary team), gave out promotional vouchers for The National, posted on social media, and had some nice Halloween evening fun!
If you haven’t heard yet, at The Benjamin, we just launched our brand new On Demand Meditation program! This new program was created exclusively in partnership with The Path, NYC’s leader in modern meditation, and is science-backed by our resident Sleep Medicine Expert, Dr. Rebecca Robbins. On Demand Meditation offers our guests 10 minute meditation sessions at the touch of a button on all in-room phones, helping our guests to energize and recharge during and after their stays. Just like guests can order “In-Room Dining” or dial “Housekeeping” from their phones, they can now simply press the “MEDITATION” button to choose between two 10 minute pre-recorded options: mindfulness, to help generate deeper focus and awareness; and mantra, to help balance mood and sense of well-being. We took the ancient practice of meditation, and made it modern, approachable and accessible – reflective of today’s on demand society and it’s all so our guests can #BeAtYourBest.
Yesterday, we hosted a variety of media up in our one-of-a-kind Benjamin Suite to showcase the new program. Everyone who attended the event got the chance to meet Dr. Robbins, Dina of The Path, Aditi from Tache and Chef Rezart from The National. They also got to participate in one of the meditation sessions and sample our cacao and matcha truffles and green juice. Everyone was very impressed by both the beautiful suite and the new program and we should be getting some impressive coverage. A special shout out to everyone who made it such a success and specifically: Dana, Betsey, Chef, Desmond, Leslie and The Benjamin property team for all of their hard work – thank you!!
The team closed out the week with some delicious and hearty lunch and topped it off with some frozen treats!

The Benjamin Management Team has a whole week planned to show their Housekeeping associates just how special and truly appreciated they are! To start things off, the AM team enjoyed a hot breakfast in the beautifully decorated cafeteria while pizza/chinese food were ordered for our PM team. Day two consisted of healthy and sweet treats with a relaxing fifteen-minute chair massage. There were also raffles and prizes won to top it off! It’s only the middle of the week so that means there’s a lot more food, fun and festivities to follow! 🙂
Denihan National & Regional Sellers in conjunction with our Hotel Sales teams hosted an exclusive client event at The Benjamin on August 24th.The well attended evening attracted nearly 150 clients across all sales markets – Business travel, Groups/Meetings, TMC/Consortia/Travel agency, Entertainment, & leisure FIT/Wholesale. The theme was “tennis” in honor of the US Open tradition, plus fine cuisine highlighting The National restaurant. John Isner, the highest ranking American Men’s tennis player & The National’s Geoffrey Zakarian made live appearances. Incredible collaboration between Corporate, the Benjamin hotel team, National restaurant team, Marketing+styling teams, & Catering made this a memorable night for our clients.
To celebrate National Pet Month and leverage our goodDOG program, The Benjamin teamed up with our new goodDOG charity partner and the largest national no-kill shelter, Animal League, and launched the #goodDOG contest. We asked guests and team members to post a picture of their pooch on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram and tag @thebenjaminhotel, #goodDOG and #NationalPetMonth to win the grand prize. $1 per entry was also donated to benefit Animal League.
The campaign was a hit! Not only did the contest’s Facebook page see over 580 visits, but we also reached over 21,000 people and received more than 3.8K likes. Not to mention that we saw an increase in followers across all of our social media accounts – it was a great way for us to extend awareness of The Benjamin and our goodDOG program to new audiences!
After three weeks (and some great submissions!), we randomly selected our grand prize winner. Lizbeth Mendoza is the recipient of a two-night stay at The Benjamin, a custom BarkBox, $100 dining credit to The National, two spa treatments, a copy of Dr. Rebecca Robbin’s Sleep for Success, and a custom eye pillow. We also randomly chose Comet and Mac as winners of custom BarkBoxes.

The Benjamin already has a great VIP amenity program that incorporates special touches and great food and beverage from The National but sometimes that extra customization is needed and requested. Take a look at this great example from this past week. Shown here are… who worked with other members of the team to make sure these creative amenities that featured NYC Broadway shows and special diet items to provide a warm welcome to set the stage so that you can “Be at your best.” while visiting us.

On Monday March 28th the New York City Association Of Hotel Concierges gathered at our very own Benjamin Hotel for their monthly membership meeting. After excellent introductory speeches from Anya our Chef Concierge and Steve our General Manager, the meeting was underway. Halfway through a very special event occurred in the pinning of our very own Gina Bianco as we initiated her into the prestigious Les Clefs d’Or USA. After over 30 years of excellence and service, it is an achievement that brings both Gina and the entire Benjamin team extreme pride.
