Shout Out Winners Luncheon!

APRIL
We build upon the experience of others as others will build upon yours. There’s great satisfaction in first learning how to do something, but even greater satisfaction in personally improving upon it. Finding a better way and then sharing it, so it becomes the new best practice others will follow, is what turns followers into leaders.

JULY
You can always tell the people who love what they do. They have so fully immersed themselves into their work it’s written all over their face. If you get immense satisfaction from making a guest’s stay memorable, you are passionate. If solving a problem or finding a better way of doings things makes you really happy, you are passionate. If you achieve passion, your work, your life will be more fulfilling.

AUGUST
Simply put, it all comes down to you. You can make the difference. Your approach, your effort, even your body language can turn a guest interaction from just another hotel stay into an experience they share with others. This brings back more guests, drives more business and helps us all. We’re a team, but only you can take the responsibility for your actions and your performance.

SEPTEMBER
Commitment is not a sometimes thing. It is an always thing. It’s honoring others by being on time for meetings. It’s meeting deadlines and canceling personal plans to ensure a job gets done right. It’s doing the extra work to make certain you have looked at every option before choosing a direction. It’s not taking the easiest approach but the best approach. If you are not committed, nothing else matters.

OCTOBER
Think about it from your perspective, it’s nice to be appreciated. Everyone likes to be acknowledged for performance. While we all get compensated for working, being told you are doing a good job can be the added psychological bonus of improved self-esteem. Positive recognition in front of peers is even more impactful. And that is very motivational, which improves performance. Which helps us all.

NOVEMBER
Great advances are made when a person or group choose to take a risk on doing something new, something better. For us to continue to advance you need the confidence to take chances. Know that we will support extraordinary efforts to satisfy a guest or improve a process. We know that not every risk will succeed. But those that do can be game changing improvements to our reputation and profits.

DECEMBER
You simply cannot work non-stop long days, nights and weekends. It’s unhealthy. It puts a strain on your family and significant others. And frankly you will probably lose perspective. Taking the time to relax with loved ones, getting exercise and having some “me time” helps rejuvenate your well being. You need it. And you need to remember that your fellow team members need it as well. It’s called living.

JANUARY
Success always comes down to the team. Blending in the unique mixture of skill sets and personalities behind a common goal can turn a moderate performance into a winner. But it requires respect. Respect for each member’s contribution. Respect for the need to do your part. Respect for the overall team goal which sometimes requires placing the team’s needs above your own. But we win or lose together.

FEBRUARY
The art of thinking differently. Facing new or long term obstacles with an open minded quest to find a better solution. The excitement of discovering a new way to deliver a memorable guest experience made worthwhile by their reaction. The satisfaction of knowing that no one else has thought of that before. It was your idea. And it worked.

MARCH
That certain part of you that knows the difference between right and wrong. It’s an internal regulator that helps you make choices throughout your day. It’s not just the big things. It’s about being able to look yourself in the mirror and knowing that you are proud of what you see for all the little things you do, just because they are right.
